Robert Charles (RC) Garrett , died peacefully on May 21, 2020, surrounded by all of his family members. Robert was one of seventeen children born to Stella and June Garrett, in Alpine, AL. There he met his wife Leola Pearl Garrett and married her on Dec. 19, 1953, they then moved to Rockford,IL in 1955.
Robert and Leola had a very large family of 10 children. He was the wisest, hardworking , and a generous man that you would ever know. He had so many amazing stories to tell, and some you wouldn't be able to think of saying to others. He had to get his lottery tickets daily and work on cars or fix something in his garage . And as soon as the music turned on he was the first one to start dancing and whistling. Didn't have much musical talent but could play a good harmonica. He worked for Greenlee Corp. over 20 years. and Leola didn't have to want to work a day in her life because Robert TOOK care of his family!!
Robert leaves to cherish many loving memories with his 7 children, Larry Garrett, Gwen(Geroge) Jenkins, Stella Garrett (Roy), Barbara Clark(Ken Purifoy), Cynthia Garrett,Scott(Lisa)Garrett,Michael(Felicia)Garrett .He had , 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He has a brother Louis Garrett and a sister Reatha Mae Keith, that he leaves, also. Robert has touched so many friends and families lives, many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He had a special relationship, with his great grandaughter that he helped raised, Jasmyne(jabo)Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother Stella and Dad June, wife Leola Pearl Garrett, daugheter Doris Garrett, Son Robert Garrett Jr., grandson Wayne Garrett, grand daughter Shanta Ervin, great grandson Malachi Price, and Baby Demario.
Due to the covid-19, we are doing a buriel of ashes, Friday, May 29, 2020. Cedar Bluff Cemetery, 1200 Rural St. at 2PM, you are welcome to drive through and pay your respects.
