Rita "Grandma Tina" Encinias, 78, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at her home in Las Vegas.She was born on Nov. 15, 1934 in San Geronimo, to the late Isidoro Aragon and Juanita Vigil Aragon.She was united in marriage on June 20, 1955 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas to Narciso Encinias. She worked at the Las Vegas Medical Center for 17 years as a housekeeper, enjoyed making tortillas, watching her novelas and was a grandma to everyone. A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Juanita "Grandma Jane" Benavidez and Isidoro "Grandpa" Lolo" Aragon; stepfather, Cruz Benavidez; sister, Annie Aragon; grandson, Dennis "Nino" Ortiz; nephews, Joseph Aragon and Danny "Funny" Aragon; mother and father-in-law, Eumelia and Manuel Encinias.She is survived by her husband, Narciso Encinias of the family home in Las Vegas; daughters and sons, Rose DeHerrera and husband Leonard of Las Vegas, Ben Encinias of Rio Rancho, Maria Ortiz and companion Richard Sedillo, and Joe Encinias and wife Denise all of Las Vegas; grandchildren; Yvonne Encinias and companion Isaac, Christine Encinias and companion Steve, Leonard De Herrera Jr, Kevin De Herrera, Ben H. Encinias fiancee Erica, Monica Encinias, Carlos Encinias, Joseph Romero and wife Crystal, Laura Ortiz and companion Kenny, Lisa Ortiz and companion Josh, Joey Varela, Ashley Encinias and Ben, little angel Heather Encinias, Robert Encinias and companion Angel, Monica Maestas and husband Roy, Mary Lucero, Vicky Sedillo, Richard Sedillo and Terry; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria Coca and husband Romolo and Andreita Chavez and husband Eloy, all of Las Vegas; brothers, Moises Benavidez and Ladin, Louie Benavidez and wife Barbara and Ramon Benavidez all of Las Vegas; nephews: Robert Aragon and wife Lizzie, and Michael Aragon and wife Pam all of Las Vegas; son-in-law, Eddie Ortiz of Las Vegas, Nevada; numerous other relatives and many friends. Rosary devotional services were held at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Rogers Chapel in Las Vegas and at 7 p.m. on Sunday, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas. Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. today, Jan. 14, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, with Father Douglas Mitchell as celebrant. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery in San Geronimo with the following serving as casket bearers: Joseph Romero, Ben H. Encinias, Carlos Encinias, Joey Varela, Robert Encinias, and Brandon Quintana.
