Richard Allen YelmJune 5, 1942 - February 22, 2014Richard Allen Yelm was born on June 5, 1942 in Genoa, Nebraska. He was one of seven children born to Emil Elmer Yelm and Rena Ella Morris. He passed away on February 22, 2014 at his home in Caldwell of natural causes. Richard attended school in Genoa and Lexington, Nebraska, before he moved to Caldwell with his family in 1953 where he then attended schools in Caldwell. Richard married Alice Kay Powers (daughter of Earl Powers and Alma Opal Johnson) on May 24, 1963 in Caldwell and together they had four children. Richard worked many years in the irrigation industry and seed packaging companies. He did various jobs for many people throughout his life.Richard really enjoyed taking care of his yard and taking care of all his pet rabbits and squirrels. He also loved going to yard sales, traveling to do genealogy, watching old westerns and spending a lot of time with family and friends. He will truly be missed.Richard is survived by his three daughters, Teresa (Shane) Miller of Elko, NV, Brenda (Eric) Strickland of Caldwell, Tammy (Abe) Alsop of Boise; one son, Ricky Earl Yelm of Nampa; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Eva (Duane) Rowley of Caldwell; brother, Eldon (Madeline) Yelm of Caldwell; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Kay; his parents, Emil and Rena; 3 sisters, Fern, Dorothy and Virginia; a brother, Bob; and a grandson, Noah.Richard's family would like to sincerely thank everyone who visited and helped us during this difficult time.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4th at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
