Richard SayreDecember 4, 1936 - July 14, 2017Vancouver, WA - After a long, difficult battle with cancer, Richard (Dick) John Sayre went home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2017.Dick was born on December 04, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Earle John and Mabel Fay Sayre (Hyatt). He graduated from St. Boniface High School in Sublimity, Oregon, in the spring of 1955. He was the oldest of the six Sayre children. Dick entered the U.S. Air Force in October of 1955. He attended training to become a National X-Ray Technician in Los Angeles County shortly after he married his first wife, Rosemary Petersen, in Stayton, Oregon on October of 1959. Dick and Rosemary had two children, Julie born in 1961 and Jeff born in 1963. He married his second wife, Melanie Lane, on September 18, 1975 in Vancouver, Washington. She had three children; Tracy, Chris and Lisa which he loved and cared for.Dick loved everything "Cowboy"! He enjoyed fishing, socializing and taking road trips. He loved to travel and explore. But most of all, he loved his friends and family! He had a big, helpful heart and relished making new friends and cherished the old ones. He adored all his grandchildren: Larissa, Grant, Luke and Ava.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jay and his son, Jeff. He is survived by his wife, Melanie and her children; his daughter Julie Johnson and family of Maple Valley, WA; his brother James Sayre of Castro Valley, CA; sister Janet Haas of Lyons, OR; brother Terry Sayre of Vancouver, WA; sister Nancy Emery of Salem, OR and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 400 S Andresen Rd, Vancouver, WA 98661 on Saturday, August 5th at 9:30 am with a brief reception to follow.
