Richard F. NeroPoughkeepsie - Richard F. Nero, son of the late Alfred F. Nero and Clare S. (O'Rourke) Nero passed away at the Pines in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 6, 2017. Richard was born on March 9, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He spent his early years in Philadelphia and New Jersey and then returned here. He attended local schools, graduating from FD. Roosevelt High School with the class of 1952. After High School, he went to work for IBM in the Apprentice School becoming a Toolmaker.On July 15, 1956 he married his High School sweetheart, Marion Bellock. Together, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Richard was in the US Army Reserves and served in the US Army during the Korean War in 1956. He retired from IBM in 1992 after working there for 40 years. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Marist College.Richard had a love for cars and motorcycles and was a lifelong member of the Poughkeepsie Elks Club.In addition to his wife Marion, he is survived by his son Chris Nero and his wife Tara, son Douglas Nero and his wife Teresa and daughter Michelle Summers and her husband John and 1 grandchild Travis LeRoy and his sister in-law Barbara Knickerbocker. Calling hours will be held on Sunday February 12, 2017 from 2pm to 5pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 with a memorial service starting at 4:30pm. In keeping with Richard's wishes Cremation has taken place and Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
