Richard E. Hogan, age 49, of Elyria passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness. He was born on September 26, 1967 in Elyria, Ohio and was a 1985 graduate of Elyria High School. Richard was a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters. He loved playing spades, collecting stamps, watching the Cleveland Sports teams, sitting in the sun and jamming to rock and roll. He will be greatly missed for his gentle spirit and quiet strength. He is survived by his son, Richard E. (fiancée, Lindsey) Hogan II, of Sarasota, FL; mother, Jean Hogan and step-father, Jack Waters; sisters, Linda Foreman, Judy Ehrke and Dana Hogan Litzendorf; nieces, Laura Foreman Barbee, Kendra Foreman Weagley, Brittany Russo and Callie Litzendorf; and his nephews, Adam Ehrke, Nicholas Ehrke and Christopher Whidden. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Hogan; and his brother, Mike Mayhew. Private family services were held under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
