YORKSHIRE — Richard M. Broerman, age 69, of Yorkshire, Ohio, passed away at 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at The James Cancer Center at OSU, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born on Feb. 12, 1947, in Yorkshire, Ohio, to the late Clarence and Ruth (Barga) Broerman. He married Mary Lou Meier on Nov. 29, 1975, at St. Rose Catholic Church, Maria Stein, Ohio. She survives in Yorkshire.
He is also survived by five children, Jason and Andrea Broerman, Findlay, Jodi and Keith Overmyer, Plain City, Jaclyn and Chris Roscoe, Galena, Jacob and Jennifer Broerman, Hudson, and Jenna and Ryan Subler, Troy; 12 grandchildren, Lindsey, Drew and Luke Broerman, Braxton and Sophie Overmyer, Nolan and Madelyn Roscoe, Mackenzie and Oliva Broerman, Ava, Louis and Eleanor Subler; brothers and sisters, Caroline and Elmer Schlater, Sidney, Nancy Jean and Ott Kuess, Celina, Raymond and Rebecca Broerman, Yorkshire, Irene and John Romer, LaGrange, Indiana, Roger and Kathleen Broerman, Fort Recovery, and Robert and Connie Broerman, Yorkshire; and in-laws: Julitta Overman, Fort Recovery, Eileen Pleiman, Osgood, Velma Hartke, Coldwater, Lillian Homan, St.Marys, Marilyn Uhlenhake, Coldwater, Edna and Lavern Reichert, Lewistown, Joan and Don Hummel, St. Henry, Anita and Lester Homan, Maria Stein, Diana and Don Albers, Osgood, Larry and Mary Jane Meier, Maria Stein, Dale and Jane Meier, Versailles, and Nicholas and Margie Meier, Maria Stein.
He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ann Lehmkuhl, in-laws Bernard Overman, Bernard Pleiman, Richard Hartke, Arnold Homan, Ernest Uhlenhake, parent in-laws Aloys and Rose (Bruns) Meier, and son-in-law Matthew Huelskamp.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era stationed in Germany, a member of the Osgood American Legion Post 588 where he was a past commander. Rich was also a member of Minster FOE 1391, former St. Nicholas choir member and St. Nicholas Men's Sodality and an avid card player.
Rich had worked as USPS rural carrier in Yorkshire and proud owner of E & R's Pub in Yorkshire for 25 years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, Ohio with the Rev. David Zink celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martin Cemetery with full military honors.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m.
