Richard was born on July 6, 1951 in South Bend to Rev. H. Paul Smith and earthly mother Margarette (Kulchar) Smith. He was preceded in death by a sister Alanna M. Chmiel and two brothers Edward F. Wood and Dennis B. Wood.Surviving are a brother Carl E. (Carol) Wood, two sisters-in-law Jean Wood and Joyce Wood, his guardian Dana Spaid and daughter Emilie, co-guardian Dean Spaid, nieces Denise (Steve) Domonkos and Stacey (Linden) Seitz and great-nieces and nephews Sam (Abby Wiles) Domonkos, Ben (Sarah) Domonkos, Jacob (Lisa) Domonkos, Cameron and Clayton Seitz, great-great nieces, Mary and Gwyneth Domonkos and other loving nieces and nephews.Uncle Rich loved his radio, worshipping at Immanuel, watching his favorite soap opera and being with his family. Memorial services will be celebrated at 3:30pm Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Immanuel United Methodist Church. Family and friends may gather from 3:00 pm until services in the church.
