This obituary is administered by:
Regina Ann Frank of East Tawas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility, age 100. She was born on July 29, 1914 in the family farm house in Tawas Township to Frank and Mary (Blust) Nelkie. Regina grew up with eight brothers, and quickly learned how to be tough and acquired a strong work ethic. After high school graduation, she married Wilmer Frank on Sept. 12, 1936. The couple moved to Midland for Wilmer's employment but soon returned to Tawas Township where they purchased a farm. In 1955 they built a home in East Tawas. As their children grew older, Regina went to work for Kaul Glove and Manufacturing Company in Oscoda, retiring in 1979 after more than 20 years of faithful service. She was a very devout Christian woman who was extremely active in her parish, Holy Family Catholic Church, formerly St. Joseph Catholic Church where she volunteered with the Altar Society and the Catholic Council of Women (CCW), serving a term as President. She was a former 4-H leader sharing her farming and agricultural experiences with youth. More recently, Regina was a season ticket holder and regular attendee of Tawas Bay Players Theater productions. She will truly be missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love her. Regina is survived by her sons, Dale (Susie) of Muskegon and Keith (Pam) of East Tawas; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Bernard Nelkie of East Tawas; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer, to whom she was married to for 57 years; her son, Larry and his wife, Carol; granddaughter, Colleen Iski; and seven brothers, Frank, Leo, Edward, Thomas, Russell Sr., Anthony and Cecil Nelkie. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial mass will be held on Friday, June 5 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas with Father Charles Donajkowski officiating. Her family will welcome friends at the church on Friday, June 5 from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. A burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in her name are encouraged to consider giving to the Tawas Bay Players theater group. An on-line guest registry is available at www.bureshfuneralhomes.com. Cremation arrangements are by Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
