Rebecca K. Coates MANTEO - Rebecca K. Coates, also known as "Becky", 55, of 112 Raleigh Wood Drive, Manteo, NC passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born on December 2, 1961 in Elizabeth City, NC to the late John A. Krider, Jr. and Isabel R. Krider. Becky loved children and was an afterschool teacher at Manteo Elementary. She was a lover of books and chocolate, and enjoyed eating a "PBJ on the beach." Becky had a heart of gold and would bend over backwards to help any and everyone. She was so loved by so many and her laughter and sense of humor brought joy to anyone in her presence. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her companion, Robert Marshall of Manteo, NC; two sons, Austin Coates and fiance;e Rebecca Layden of Elizabeth City, NC, and Ryan Coates and wife Belle Coates of Longmont, CO; a daughter, Jessica Coates and fiance;e Daniel Meads; a brother, John Krider and wife Janine Krider, and their two daughters, Nolynn and Brenna Powell, and two sons, Jeremy Krider and Josh Dunn; four grandchildren, Hunter Coates, Peyton Coates, Abigail Coates, and Kaylynn Layden. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Mizelle, mother of Brandon Mizelle.A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Twiford Memorial Chapel officiated by the Rev. Lee Johnson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Coates family.
