Rebecca Ann Woods-Thompson was received into the arms of her Savior at the age of 51 on February 6, 2018, at 4:10 P.M. at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, after a long, courageous, and valiant battle for life. She peacefully departed, and gave up her ghost, leaving Earthly Life for Eternal Life surrounded by her mother, brothers, nieces, and cousins. A candlelight that flickered out far too soon! Rebecca, a beautiful baby girl was born to the parentage of Kathleen Spires-Woods and Roosevelt Woods on November 29, 1965, in Pensacola, Florida at Sacred Heart Hospital. Hallelujah! Rebecca was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Avery Thompson of 25 years; to this union, no children were born. Rebecca and Avery were devoted to each other, as they had no children; Rebecca was a devoted Aunt (mother figure) to her nieces, nephews, and their children. Rebecca is survived by her parents and husband. Rebecca was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Harriet Taylor-Spires and Jessie Valrie-Spires, paternal grandparents Mary Ann and Willie Woods, sister Mary Ann Woods-McCants, nephew Ryan Marcel Phillips, sister-n-law Deyonna Law. She is survived by brothers Larry N. Spires Sr., Freddie N. Spires, Roosevelt D. Woods, of Pensacola, Florida; sisters Cheryl Spires-Woods of Country Club Hills, Illinois, Christine Woods-McClain of Monroeville, Daron Spires-Phillips (George) of Converse, Texas. Other survivors include mother and father-in-law, Delores and Riley Thompson Sr. of Country Club Hills, Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, brothers-in-law, and cousins. Rebecca accepted Christ at a very early age with membership at New Tabernacle Baptist Church #3; under the leadership of Reverend James Blackmon Sr.  Rebecca was an avid Bible scholar by self-study and church involvement. She also loved self-study of ancient history. Rebecca received her early education in Pensacola, graduating from Pine Forest High School. She would later go on to study to become a Medical Assistant and work in the home health industry. Rebecca relocated to Country Club Hills, Illinois for several years where she worked, met and married the greatest love of her life, Avery. Rebecca and Avery eventually relocated to Rebecca's hometown, Pensacola, Florida, and settled in for the warm, southern life. Rebecca's final employment shortly before her death was at Ashbury Place Assisted Living Facility as Marketing Director.   "To Die Is To Gain"  Death is our Friend, releases us from a body no longer fit for habitation, gives rest & relief from burdens, toils of life.  Frees us from the possibility of pain & suffering, is an entrance into heaven, and an express route to the land of no more pain/trials/ tribulations.
