Raymond V. "Ray" SkutaSt. ClairRaymond V. "Ray" Skuta, age 91, of St. Clair, passed away on February 22, 2017. He was born on September 28, 1925 in Hamtramck to the late Victor and Mary Skuta. He married Nora Carter in St. Clair on February 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 27, 1989.Ray faithfully served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for the City of St. Clair for many years before retirement.Ray served as a member of the City of St. Clair Fire Dept. for 61 years, retiring as Assistant 1st Chief. He never really retired as he still went to the hall to man the radio up until November of 2016.He also worked as a bridge tender in St. Clair for many years. He was instrumental in bringing the Offshore boat races to St. Clair in which he still served on the race committee.He is survived by his daughters; Carol (Jack) Treganowan and Charlene (Bob) Niebauer. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, along with his sister; Alyce Boden and many other family members and many friends who called him "Uncle Ray"He is preceded in death by his sons; Raymond Skuta and Tom Skuta, and granddaughter; Bobbi Jo Niebauer.Services will be held at 12:00 p.m.on Tuesday, February 28 at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery, East China Twp. Visiting hours will be Sunday and Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service.Memorials are suggested to the Firemen's Memorial Fund in Roscommon, Michigan.To leave the family a message of comfort please visit:
