Sanders, Raymond J.Raymond J. Sanders passed away at The Wisconsin Home for Veterans at King on April 8, 2017, of natural causes. He was born on April 11, 1925, to Lester Sanders and Veronica Reichel Sanders in Kaukauna Wisconsin. Ray married Elizabeth Micke on Thanksgiving Day November 24, 1949 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. Shortly after Pearl Harbor Ray enlisted in the Navy. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Kula Gulf in the south Pacific where he participated in the invasion of Saipan. He was briefly activated for the Korean Police Action as well. He was a long serving member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. It was said that Ray knew the price of a tap beer in every American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Club from northern Wisconsin through southern Texas. He was a long standing member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and The Teamster Unions and a great lover of University of Wisconsin sports. Bucky Badger was a constant in Ray's life as was his public service. He was continuously assisting others whether it was his church, friends with electrical work or simply entertainment. He served for decades as a member of the Little Chute Volunteer Fire Department and he also served as the Municipal Justice of Little Chute for 28 years. Ray is survived by his children: Charlie (Tina) Sanders of Madison; Ellen (Mike) Tennessen of Kaukauna; Mark (Cynthia) Sanders of Appleton; Lynn (Bill) Barclay of Round Rock, Texas; Anne (Jerry) Renard of Seymour; and Andy (Karen) Sanders of Little Chute; sister, Noreen Vaubel; and sister-in-law, Jeannette Micke. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Elizabeth "Betty" Micke Sanders; brothers, Donald and Thomas (Mary Ellen) Sanders; sister Mary Catherine (Neil) Hietpas; and brother-in-law, Merle Vaubel. He was also preceded in death by additional sisters and brothers-in-law: Sr. Mary Grace Micke, Agnes (John Reichel & Louis Michler), Catherine "Kitty" Micke, Marion (Gib) Broeren, Gertrude (Clayton) Van Dyke, Mildred (Orrin) Romenesko, Joseph (Irmine) Micke, Leo Micke, Sylvester Micke, Alphonse Micke and Jack (Audrey Kruse) Micke.Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Veteran and avid raconteur Raymond Sanders's visitation will be held June 12, 2017 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Military rites will immediately follow.
