RAYMOND WAYNE HILLARY, 91 HAZEL GREEN, WI - Raymond "Wayne" Hillary, 91, of Hazel Green, WI passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City, WI. Wayne was born on July 27, 1924, to Delbert and Loretta (Huske) Hillary in New Diggings, WI. He graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1942. He married Leona "Smokey" Mae Kirk on January 9, 1943, in Kahoka, MO. Wayne was proud of his service from 1944-1946 during WWII in the Army with the 84th Infantry Division, "Railsplitters". He was also a member of the Hazel Green United Methodist Church, Temperly-Duncan American Legion Post #8318 in Hazel Green, WI and the Hazel Green Fire Department. Wayne owned and operated for over 50 years the Texaco gas station in Hazel Green until his retirement in 2001. He made a friend in everyone he met and truly lived up to the Texaco slogan "Trust your car to the man who wears the star". Wayne enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, sharing stories and memories from the gas station, an avid Wheel of Fortune fan, maintaining the "family heirloom" '57 Cadillac and time spent with his grandkids. His legacy of hard work, love of family and community will be carried on by all who knew and loved him. Wayne is survived by 5 daughters, Mary (Tom) Robson, Ruth (David) Shelliam and Martha Ring, all of Hazel Green, WI, Rose (Kevin) Kunkel of Jenks, OK and Melanie (John) Sobie of Stoughton, WI; son, Robert (Cindy) Hillary of Hanover, IL; 13 grandchildren, John (Renee) Robson of Cross Plains, WI, Rod (Lynee) Robson of Cuba City, WI, Hillary (Eric) McAuliffe of Hazel Green, WI, Andy(Marci) Robson of Apple River, IL, Dennis (Kristin) Shelliam, Doug (friend, Amber Rury) Shelliam, Danny (Kristi) Shelliam, all of Hazel Green, WI, Justin Sobie of Wichita, KS, Sheila (Matt) Stephens of Platteville, WI, Kayla (fiancée, Nevada Marty) Ring of Kieler, WI, Rich (Rachel) Hillary of Monroe, WI Josh (Beth) Kunkel of Tulsa, OK and Joe (friend, CJ Morrison) Kunkel of Norman, OK; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul(Charlotte) Hillary and Pat (Irene) Hillary, both of Hazel Green, WI; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leona "Smokey" (October 13, 2015); infant son, Raymond; 4 brothers, James, Bert, Ed and Dick; son-in-law, David Ring; and 2 infant grandchildren, Theresa and David Farrey. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Moore, Dr. John Dolehide and the dedicated and caring staff at Epione Pavilion, Grant County Hospice, along with Rich and Jill Krueger at Haudenshield Funeral Home for their kindness and care given to our family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27th, at the United Methodist Church in Hazel Green, WI. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, WI. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 26th, at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, October 27th, at the church. In lieu of flowers, a Raymond "Wayne" Hillary Memorial Fund has been established. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.haudenshieldfuneralhome.com.
