Ralph E. ThorlaZANESVILLE: Ralph E. Thorla, 95, of Zanesville died at 7:30 PM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Genesis Healthcare ER.He was born on June 17, 1920 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Loren Floyd Thorla and Lillian Edith Tom Thorla. Ralph was a
WWII Air Force Veteran and retired from the Auto Parts Department of Morris & Snyder after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Amrou Grotto & was a volunteer at Good Samaritan Medical Center for over 30 years. Ralph enjoyed golfing with his many golf buddies including Bernard Mitchell, Mike May and John Griener and even had a hole in one in 1965 at the Taylor Terrace Golf Course. He is survived by his step-sons, Scott A. Smith, Steve Smith and Michael Smith; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Dave) Smith and Margaret "Margie" (Charles) Miller; several nieces and nephews including Debbie (Jim) Rose; numerous friends including his special friend, Fern Harrison. Ralph was preceded in death by parents; his wife, Dorothy Fisher Thorla; and his longtime companion, Clara Louise Smith.Friends may call from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, November 24 with services to be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 25th at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Burial will conclude at the Mt. Olive Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter Society.
