Gudmestad, Ragnar Of Wauwatosa. Passed away peacefully January 22, 2017 at impressive age of 105. Ragnar was born on November 9, 1911 near Stavanger, Norway and was the second youngest of 12 siblings. He graduated from Trondheim University in Norway in 1935 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He actively served as a captain in the Norwegian Army during WWII. After the war, he moved to the United States and married his Norwegian bride, Else Marie Ellingbo, in 1952. She passed away in 1973. He lived in West Allis for 33 years before moving to Wauwatosa in 1986. He is survived by his daughter, Tove Gudmestad Kenyon, his sons, Bjorn Gudmestad (Gail), Terje Gudmestad (Belinda), his three grandchildren, Peter, Michael (Sue) and Bernt, two great-granddaughters and nieces and nephews. Ragnar was a Mechanical Engineer and VP of Research and Development at Artos Engineering Company and Lakes Precision (a division of Artos) for over 60 years. He had 30 patents to his name. He finally retired in 2014 at the age of 103. His creative and focused work ethic inspired his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He was especially proud of his Norwegian heritage. Ragnar was a member of the Wauwatosa Lodge of Tripoli Shriners for many years. Special thanks to his "adopted daughter", Kathy, for her loving care. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 28th from 1 PM until the time of service at 3 PM. Please join us after the service for refreshments. Private burial at Highland Memorial Park.
