JONES, R. WENDELL, SR. - age 88, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at home. He was born on March 25, 1925, in Marlow, Tennessee. He was a veteran of
U.S. Air Force in WWII. Formerly employed by Atlantic Richfield Oil, and later partnered in Volunteer Lawn with his son. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was a devoted UT sports fan, an avid gardener, enjoyed traveling and people. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Rachel Jones; eleven siblings; and first wife, Claudia Robbins. Survived by wife, Frances Hashbarger; son, Wendell Jones, Jr. and wife, Vicki; wife's daughter, Jackie Logan; sister, Grace Moore of Maynardville; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Monday with the funeral service to follow in the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Dr. Jim McCluskey officiating. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment.
