Preston C. Claire, 61Preston C. Claire, 61, of Fowler, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. He was born on October 15, 1953 in Lafayette, IN to Richard A. and Vera M. (Plaspohl) Claire. He was a 1971 graduate of Benton Central High School. He married Joy Krueger in Watseka, IL. on July 26, 1991. He is survived by his wife, Joy, son, Joseph Claire (Christina) of Oxford, OH, daughter, Jolene Richards (David), Indianapolis, father, Richard Claire of Fowler, brothers Philip (Glenna) Claire of Las Vegas, NV, Patrick (Kim) Claire of Fowler, Paul (Kathy) Claire of Carmel, IN, Peter (Chris) Claire, Indianapolis, IN, and sisters, Melanie (Jack) Fingerle, Rossville, IN, Michelle (Randy) Kern of Bluffton, S.C., Melissa (Gary) Swanson of Attica, IN and Marcia (Paat) Morris of Lafayette, IN. Three grandchildren: Trenton Richards, Anna and Joseph Claire. As well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera M. Claire. Preston was a farmer and carpenter and lifelong resident of Benton County. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Earl Park, IN.Preston loved playing cards and games and enjoyed spending time with family, friends and especially his three grandchildren. He also enjoyed music. He was well known for his political views. He was also willing to lend a helping hand to everyone. As an avid animal lover, on his farm he raised chickens, ducks, geese and guineas and had a soft spot in his heart for his pet cats.The wake will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Earl Park, on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm (EDT) with Rosary said at 5:45 p.m. (EDT). The funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) also at St. John's with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Goodland, IN.Memorials may be made to Right to Life or St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Earl Park, IN.
