LAGRANGE — Phyllis J. Northup, 84, of LaGrange, died Saturday, July 16, 2016, at her residence. She was born on March 21, 1932, in LaGrange County, to Schuyler and Sarah Jane (Rowlison) Coney. Phyllis was a lifetime resident of LaGrange County. She worked in housekeeping for Vencor Hospital in LaGrange and worked alongside her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the Stroh Church of God. On April 21, 1947, she married Roger E. Northup in Angola. He preceded Phyllis in death on June 12, 2005. Surviving Phyllis are her two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Tom Howe and Sharon Mehrling, all of LaGrange; a son and a daughter-in- law, Ronald E. and Vicki Northup of LaGrange; six grandchildren, Shannon Mehrling, Joshua Mehrling, Todd Howe, Scott Northup, Julie Deveau and Rhonda Schmidt; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Howe, Camryn Deveau, Maverick Deveau and Lexy Northup. Preceding her in death are her parents; five sisters, Thelma Dilts, Elizabeth Albright, Wilma Dunafin, Virginia Noll, Norma Nelson; and a brother, William Coney. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Jeff Berry officiating. Burial will take place in Brushy Chapel Cemetery in rural LaGrange. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be contributed to the Stroh Church of God.
