Hand Phyllis Marie Hand, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio, joining her beloved spouse William A. Hand who preceded her in death on October 27, 2016. She will be deeply missed. Phyllis was born on November 11, 1935 to Philip and Mary Schaeffing. She retired from the Ohio State Medical Association where she worked as an Executive Secretary. Phyllis was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and formerly a longtime and involved member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Phyllis was an enthusiastic person who embraced life fully, from enjoying a hot air balloon ride to taking a helicopter ride to a glacier. She enjoyed travel and treasured spending time with family and friends. She also was a dedicated volunteer and regularly donated time to her church and the Holy Family Soup Kitchen. Preceded in death by her husband William A. Hand, parents Philip and Mary Schaeffing, son Dr. Philip Fisher, sisters Jane Schaeffing and Jean Detamore. Survived by her children, Mary (Kevin) Kirkendall, Dr. William (Maureen) Fisher; and daughter-in-law, Alisa Fisher; step-children, Edward (Jan) Fisher Denise Lafone, Debra (Richard) Seipel, Michelle (Chuchi) Hand-Arevalo; grandchildren, Mary Fisher, Kate Fisher, Michael (Michelle) Fisher, Amy Fisher, Mark Fisher, Noah Gillespie, Kimmie Gillespie, Lillie Gillespie, Elizabeth Gillespie; step-grandchildren, Edward Fisher, Traci Abrams, Heather Trafon, Joseph Seipel-Parks, Hilary Lafone, B. Shannon Lafone, Tate Arevalo, Chase Arevalo; many step-great grandchildren; brother, Philip (Roseanne) Schaeffing; sisters, Margaret (Ben) Haller, Patricia (Sam) Moone Julie (John) Shaver; brother-in-law, Robert Detamore; many beloved nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the HOPE & HEART FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 434 Norton Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43228 with Fr. Leo Connolly celebrant.
