Peter "Pete" Norman DeCorse Jr 45, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013. He was born on October 27, 1967 at Fort Yuma Indian Hospital.Pete attended Immaculate Conception School and graduated class of 1985 from Yuma High School. He was a member of the Quechan Nation. As a child he played baseball and his dad was his coach. He enjoyed going with his twin sisters out of town when his dad attended work shop training in Phoenix. He always enjoyed camping trips to Old Creek Canyon that grandpa and grandma DeCorse took him on and aunt Anita always made home made tortillas. His best years during high school were spending the night at his Grandma Teresa's house on the weekends and her asking him is he wanted hot or cold breakfast. He loved his grandma. He worked at McMahan's Furniture from 1991 to 1994, Paradise Casino when they first opened in 1995, then he worked for San Pasqual School from 1996 to 2012.Pete was a sports enthusiast, collected sports cards starting with his #1 Basketball team the L.A. Lakers, football, baseball and NASCAR. He would send out randomly for autographs and ended up with Magic Johnson, Phil Jackson to numerous NASCAR drivers; Jeff Gordon, Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt. He loved to read books about history. Anybody who knew Pete knew that he would watch his favorite game show, Jeopardy and waking up to watching the sports talk show, First Take ESPN 2 with his shoulder buddy, a teacup Chihuahua named Cujo.Pete is survived by his best friend and love of his life of 25 years, Sally Jo Valencia; son, Pete N DeCorse III; step-sons, Isreal (Cynthia), Richard (Monique) and Isaac (Tory) Valencia; his mother Mona DeCorse; brothers, Stevie (Barbara) Rivera, Anthony (Lisa) Hernandez; sister, Cindy DeCorse, Lynn (Ray) Adams; Amy (Charles) Keaton; 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his dad Peter N. DeCorse Sr., sister Wendy DeCorse; paternal grandparents, Teresa and Henry DeCorse and maternal grandparents, Evelyn Barbaree, and Raymond De Los Reyes.Viewing will be held at Yuma Mortuary on Tuesday January 8, 2013 from 1:30pm to 3pm. Services beginning at 4pm at St. Thomas Church, Fort Yuma with tradition tribe ceremony at the Quechan Cryhouse from Tuesday 5pm to Wednesday January 9, 2013, 5am.
