In Celebration of a Life Well Lived

With great sadness and heavy hearts, we share the news that Peggy Frazier McDonald, age 76, of Fairfax, Virginia, died on Friday, August 23, 2019, after a long and hard-fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. She chose to spend her final weeks living in joy, surrounded by her family and friends and passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Peggy was the beloved wife of Thomas B. McDonald Jr. and together they shared their love through 56 years of marriage. She was the loving mother to her only daughter, Leslie Leisey; caring mother-in-law to Lane Leisey; and cherished grandmother and "Nanny" to Blake (5) and Summer (3). Peggy was the dear sister to Jean Frazier; Robert Lee Frazier Jr. (Brenda); and Linda Fogle; and a wonderful aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. Peggy was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Peggy was born on December 27, 1942, to the late Irene and Robert Lee Frazier, Sr. in Sperryville, Virginia. She married Tom McDonald in 1963 and together they are a shining example of enduring true love. Peggy worked at the US Geological Survey until retiring in 1986. Once retired, she worked in her daughter's school, performing many different functions, including office assistant, instructional assistant, PTA president, and a volunteer for many school outings and activities. She was an active member of the Garden Club of Fairfax, where she made many wonderful friends and lasting memories. Some of Peggy's favorite hobbies included needlepoint, creating beautiful floral arrangements, and catering various events. Peggy and Tom enjoyed visiting their beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina every summer, where they loved to spend time with friends and family.

Peggy lived a life full of generosity, kindness, and love for others, consistently putting the needs of others before her own. She was an amazing cook who loved to share her delicious meals with anyone who came through her doors. If you came to Peggy's house, you were certain to be fed a delicious meal and would never leave hungry.

The outpouring of love and support from so many family and friends during the last few months of her life is a clear reflection of the tremendous impact Peggy had on the lives of those around her. Peggy and her family are forever grateful and appreciative for the visits, the food, the flowers, and the immense love shown during this difficult time.

As Peggy chose to find joy and happiness throughout her life, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Pender United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Continuing with her desire to help others, Peggy requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

You can to the family or in memory of Peggy McDonald.
