Patrick L. Haverty of East Tawas passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 at the Iosco County Medical Care Facility in Tawas City, age 92 years. Patrick was born on Feb. 25, 1921 in Terre Haute, Ind. He worked as a tool and die maker for Northern Engineering in Detroit for 25 years. He and his wife, Mary K. (Lowther) Haverty, moved from Detroit to the Tawas area soon after retirement. Patrick was a member of Tawas Eagles Club, Tawas Elks Lodge and Tawas Moose Lodge. Surviving are his two loving sons, Michael Haverty of Troy and Patrick (Terry) Haverty of Bluff City, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Keith (Holly) Haverty, William Haverty, Tim Haverty and Jackie (Keegan) Lahr; two great grandchildren, Patrick and Nicholas Haverty; and many dear friends. Patrick was preceded in death by his wife, Mary K. Haverty on Dec. 6, 2005; a granddaughter, Nikki Haverty-Smith; and a brother, Robert Haverty. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City.
