She moved to Sacramento, CA. where she worked as a graduate nurse at Sutter Hospital until time to return to Indiana to take state boards to become a registered nurse. After passing the state boards in 1947, she worked at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She later worked as a dental assistant, which gave her time to attend Jordon School of Music. She loved dancing, going to stage performances, playing the piano, singing and painting. Patricia spent her life caring for others, beginning with her parents. She continued to care for her mother at home who needed 24 hour care for 22 years before making the difficult decision to transfer her mother into Edgewood Care Center in Oxford, IN. She continued to care for her for 11 more years until her mothers death in 1985. During that time, Pat was asked by Father Fred Geschwind, who was pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Oxford, IN, to serve as housekeeper. Pat then moved to Father Fred's new parish, St. John the Baptist, in Tipton, IN. She served as housekeeper, bookkeeper, and provided music (piano, organ and guitar) for the parish. After his retirement, Father Fred was assigned a position as Chaplain at Sisters of St. Joseph Convent and Conference Center in Tipton, IN where Pat also retired and continued as housekeeper and caregiver. Pat continued to assist Father Fred after he suffered a stroke, until his death in 2004. After Father Fred's death, Pat continued as a resident and was cared for by the Sisters of St. Joseph at the center until it closed in 2012. In April, 2012, Patricia was transferred from St. Joseph Center to Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield, IL where she was lovingly cared for.
