Opal French LUBBOCK-Opal French passed away on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 87 years on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel. Opal was born on Dec. 9, 1928, to Jeffery and Ela Cross in Lamar County, Texas. On Nov. 13, 1944, Opal married the love of her life, Glen in Lubbock, Texas. Opal earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University in 1970 and a Master of Science degree of Science from Texas A&I University in 1977. She was a retired school teacher and a member of LakeRidge Baptist Church. Survivors include her sister, Shirley Graham; two sister-in-laws, Virgie Cross and Phyllis Cross; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. A special acknowledgement goes to her dedicated care giver, Mary Jenkins, who cared for her the past five years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeffery B. and Ela Bell Cross; spouse, Glen French; sons, Cary French and Glen Edward French; and siblings, James Thomas, Jack, Jelly, Leslie, and Billy Cross, and Kathryn Squier.
