Onesimo L. Chairez, 90, of El Centro, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014. Onesimo was born on October 18, 1923 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He married Aurelia Chairez in Zacatecas, Mexico. Onesimo worked through out the Midwest and southwest under the Bracero Program for most of the 1940's to late 1950's. In 1963 Onesimo formally immigrated to California from Mexico. After arriving Onesimo set about working in the agricultural industry and raising 10 children alongside his wife, Aurelia of 72 years. He is preceded in death by his son, Raymundo Chairez. He is survived by his wife, Aurelia; children, Lilia Rangel, Ofelia Chairez, Leticia Mora, Gloria Sanchez, Hector Chairez, Dora Chairez- Silva, Margarita Corona, Raul Chairez and Diana Lacuesta. Onesimo was also blessed with 24 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro, with rosary at 7 p.m.. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in El Centro. Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
