Ogden Nathaniel Lee Jr., known to most of us as Kippy Lee was born on March 14,1949 in Montclair, New Jersey, son of the Late Ogden N. Lee Sr. of Montclair, NJ formerly of Cumberland, Virginia and Shirley Barnes-Lee of Montclair, NJ formerly of Surry, Virginia.

Kippy was raised in Linden, New Jersey and attended Linden public schools graduating Linden High School in 1967. Growing up Kippy had a love and passion for music. He\'d started playing the accordian at an early age and played the guitar. Upon graduating LHS he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music located in Boston Massachusettes and became an alumnus in 1969. On May 10, 1969 Kip married his High school sweatheart Lillian Howard and had 4 children from this union. Ogden N. Lee III of Philadelphia, PA, Tyrone A. Lee Sr. of Bethlehem, PA., Alvin O. Lee of Rahway, NJ. and Tisha A. Lee-Green of Jacksonville, FL.

Between 1970 and 1975 Kip had toured nationwide with his group 1619 Bad Ass Band and performed as opening acts for some of the worlds renowned music acts such as The Temptations, The Stylistics, Hank Ballard, Clay Tyson, Mike Carabelo (Formerly of Santana), The Detroit Emeralds, The Manhattans, Felonious Monks which was the forerunner of the popular group 1910 Fruit Gum Company, Herbie Mann, and George Clinton and the Funkadelics. He later attended and was awarded a certificate of completion from the Recording Institute of America in New York City in 1975. Kip was a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), American Guild of Authors and Composers (AGAC), and the American Federation of Musicians(A.F.of M.). His professional music and composing credits were as follows \"It\'s Nation Time\" Amiri Baraka 1972 (Motown Records), \"Lets Go Streakin\" Hank Ballard 1974 (Stang Records), and \"World\", \"For your Love\", 1619 B.A.B 1976 (Brown Sugar Records).

\"Kippy\", as he was affecionately known was a member of the International Painters and Allied Trades Union, DC 711 Local 1009, as a Glazier and retired after 25 Years of service. Upon retirement he moved from his original State of New Jersey and called Richmond, Virginia his home.

Kip O Lee was a long term member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 913, and prided in being elected as it\'s first African american Governor.

He was predeceased by his parents the Late Ogden N. Lee Sr.and Shirley Lee-Fudge, as well as his in-laws the Late William H. Howard and Marga Howard.

He is survived by his ex wife Lillian B. Lee; his loving brother Micheal C. Lee(Jill Lee) of Appomattox, Virginia; Uncle Carlton Lee of East Orange, NJ; A dear aunt Effe\' Hashim(Moyenda Hashim) of Richmond, Virginia; His 4 Children, Ogden N. Lee III(Dawnisha Lee), Tyrone A. Lee Sr., Alvin O. Lee(Francis E. Cruz-Lee); Tisha A. Lee- Green(Dejuan Green); 17 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; 3 Nieces, Tiffany Lee, Krista Irvin(RD Irvin), Brianna Lee all of Appomattox, Virginia; and a host of Great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kippy Lee was a man whom was truly loved and admired, whom danced to the beat of his own drum yet he leaves us to cherish the fond memories of the past and will be missed dearly.

His legacy lives on.
