Nicolina Mazzeo Mattia, 98, of Poza di Caianello, Caserta Italy passed away May 14, 2019. She was the wife of the late Silvio Mattia and daughter of the late Francesco and Caterina (Orsillo) Mazzeo.

Nicolina was born in Long Island, NY and shortly afterwards moved to Cascano di Sessa Italy. She returned alone to the US in 1955 to establish residency in Rhode Island before immigrating her family from Italy in 1956. They settled as a family, owning their home in the Silver Lake section of Providence,RI. She worked in the manufacturing industry for many years before retiring. With her husband Silvio, In 1981 moved back to Italy and resided in Poza di Caianello until her passing.

She was the beloved Mother of Domenica "Rita" Mattia Loffreda, Domenico Mattia and Tommaso "Tommy" Mattia; Mother-In-Law of Gail Mattia, Virginia Mattia and the late Giulio Loffreda; adored Nonna of 7; Bisnonna of 7 and Sister of Alberto Mazzeo and the late Giuseppe Mazzeo, Christina Mazzeo Capriglione, Antonia Mazzeo Passaretti and Ida Mazzeo Toreieollo.

Her funeral was held Thursday May 16, 2019 in Italy. A Mass of Christian Burial in Chiesa S. Michele Arcangelo Magnano Poza & Entombment in Cimitero di Caianello with her husband. 

A Memorial Mass in America will be celebrated for her, Saturday June 8, 2019 at 10:30 am in St Gregory The Great Roman Catholic Church, 360 Cowesett Road Warwick, RI 02886. Following the Mass a light lunch will be served. 

On behalf of her family, both in Italy and America, we would like to thank everyone for the love, support, flowers, cards and sympathy given to us. She was an incredible, loving, generous, beautiful woman. We loved and adored her. She will be missed greatly until we are all together again.
