Gomez, Nellie Nellie Gomez, 90, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on March 25, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born on 2/12/1927 in Morenci, AZ, preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, daughter, grandson, and loving husband. For those that knew Nellie, aka, Nana or Granny, she was a ray of sunshine, she opened her arms and heart to anyone she came in contact with. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family, in her early days she spent much of her time in the kitchen, concocting fabulous meals that she shared with everyone. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and found comfort in prayer. Nellie is survived by her brothers, Richard, Frankie, and Tony, a wealth of nieces, nephews and friends, her children: Gina Romo (David), Johnny Chavez (Cindy), Jimmy Gomez and Benjamin Chavez, also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the loves of her life. Her parting goodbye to her family when they visited was the sign of the cross, and a soft, god bless you. Services will be held on Friday, March 31st, the viewing at 9:30 a.m followed by rosary at 10:00 a.m. with funeral to begin at 10:30 at St. St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Interment to follow at St. Frances Catholic Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street, Phoenix, 85008.
