KINSTON - Nathan Etheridge Sutton, 87, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born on November 19, 1925, in Lenoir County to the late Benjamin and Beaulah Sutton. Nathan was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Meadows Sutton. Etheridge was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He was a member of Southwest Christian Church where he served as a deacon. His life was about his faith, family, friends, and fishing. He retired from Lenoir Oxygen Supply after many years of service. It has been said that he was one of the hardest working men you'll ever meet. If you met him, you loved him. The world needs a few more "Pa Suttons." He will be missed by his "King's Restaurant" family and his friends at Bojangles. Between King's and Bojangles, he was taken care of just about every day of the week. Survivors include his two daughters, Marlo King and husband Andy, of Kinston and Tanya Mallard and husband Kenneth, of Plymouth; his grandchildren, Drew King and wife Ginny, Tara K. Taylor and husband Johnnie, Todd Mallard, and Kimberly M. Watkins and husband Marvin; great-grandchildren, Kady Watkins, Emma Watkins, and Halle Taylor; sisters Lucy Dawson of Chocowinity and Doris Rose Grant of Kinston; brothers Glen Sutton and wife Carolyn, of Kinston and Elwood Paul Sutton and wife Lettie, Fayetteville. He also leaves behind a special companion Jewel Johnson and family. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July, 24, 2013, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with the Reverend Wayne Lee officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home. Burial will be at 6 p.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be sent to howardandcarter.com.
