Nancy was born on November 4, 1944 and raised in Conroe, TX to the late A. K. Stewart, a Conroe attorney and native of New Waverly, TX, and Rosamunde (Rosie) Stewart, a native of Santa Anna, TX. Later in her career, Nancy taught at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School and The St. Regis School. Nancy was a free thinker and adventurous. She played saxophone and piano. She participated in an archeological dig outside of London and visited Machu Picchu long before it was a tourist attraction. While in Peru, she and her Tulane roommate decided "Why not?!" and paid a local taxi driver to drive them all the way to Bolivia to see the floating reed villages of Lake Titicaca. Nancy had many interests ranging from travel to volunteer work at the Museum of Natural Science. She loved her sons, gardening roses and daylilies, bridge, animals, golf, and the family farm. Nancy is survived by her husband Charley Walters of Lake McQueeney, TX; son Brooks Walters and wife Marines of Houston, TX; son Will Walters and wife Tara and their sons Liam and Alex, all of Dallas, TX; and son Matthew Walters of New York, NY. She is also survived by her sister Rosemary Minard and husband Bernie of Santa Fe, NM; brother and attorney Al Stewart of Conroe, TX; and sister Marcelle Slovak and husband B.J. of Richmond, TX. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service in honor of her life will be held Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 AM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX with reception to follow.
