Young, age 69, of Hartly, DE, passed away surrounded by her devoted family on Sunday, December 4, 2016, from Alzheimer's Disease.Mrs. Young was born on September 20, 1947, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late James and Verna Vodvarka.She retired in 2007 from Delaware Technical & Community College, Office of the President with over 35 years of service and over 40 years of service for the State of Delaware.Nancy enjoyed all sports but especially loved the Philadelphia Phillies, win or lose. She enjoyed listening to Harry Kalas call the games. Nancy enjoyed being with family, travelling, and visiting botanical gardens and amusement parks. She appreciated the little things, like reading the newspaper, cardinals at the bird feeder, and a good piece of chocolate. Above all, Nancy was a very loving and caring person who only wanted the best for everyone.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James E. "Voss" Vodvarka, and her nephew, Kevin A. Vodvarka.She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Harold G. Young, Jr.; her daughter, Sydney Y. Riggi, and her husband Anthony C. Riggi of Hartly, DE; her brother, Larry J. Vodvarka of Hartly; three sisters, Bonnie L. Vodvarka of Newark, DE, Joanna E. Vodvarka, and her husband Gene McLaughlin of Wilmington, DE, and Gail V. Brynes, and her husband Joe of New Castle, DE; nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Speckles.A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, from 11 am to 12 pm in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, DE. Celebration of Life services will begin at 12 pm.Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the , 108 N.
