EDEN PRAIRIE, MN - Nancy (nee: Sorenson) Hanson, 84, formerly of Racine, passed away at Brookdale of Eden Prairie on Wednesday June 17, 2015. She was born on October 8, 1930 in Racine to Harry N. Sorenson and Emma (Timler) Sorenson. Nancy was united in marriage to Bucky Hanson on July 22, 1950 at the home her parents in Racine (Elmwood Park). Nancy was a 1948 graduate of Washington Park High School. She was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. Nancy was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker to her husband and five sons. She was an avid gardener and planted and maintained beautiful garden areas in all the homes in which the family resided over the years. She found joy as a playful and loving grandmother to her eight grandchildren. She loved swimming and not only swam regularly at the Racine YMCA, but was a certified aquatics instructor as well. She could also often be found swimming in Bohner’s Lake in Burlington and Big Stone Lake in Three Lakes where she and Bucky had cottages over the years. Nancy is survived by her husband Bucky Hanson, now of Eden Prairie, MN; her sons Dr. David (Shari) Hanson of Libertyville, IL, Steve Hanson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Rev. Dana (Nancy) Hanson of Winnetka, CA, Jon Hanson of Milwaukee, and Andrew (Peggy) Hanson of Hopkins, MN; her grandchildren Robert, Laura and Elizabeth Hanson, Kristina (Sean) Herman; David, Gregory, Luke and Emma Hanson; and her first great grandchild Kaylee Marie Herman and another Herman great grandchild on the way. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Emma Sorenson, her father Harry Sorenson, and her brother Dale Sorenson. A Memorial Service will take place at Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Racine on Friday June 26, 2015 at 1:00pm with Rev. Dana Hanson officiating. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday from 11:00am until the time of service.
