Mitsuo Naito Obituary

Jul 14, 1932 - Oct 06, 2015

This obituary is administered by:
Mitsuo "Mitts" NaitoJuly 14, 1932 - October 6, 2015Mitsuo "Mitts" Naito, 83, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho. He will always be remembered as a man who was rough around the edges but had a deeply compassionate and caring heart. He spent his years making sure that his family was always taken care of, and his generosity has extended far beyond the reaches of family. Mitts was born on July 14, 1932 in Salinas, California to Hyakuichi and Kimiko Naito. At the age of five, Mitts, along with his parents, two brothers and sister were placed in an internment camp in Poston, Arizona. Upon their release, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho to begin a new life. When Mitts became of age, he joined the U.S. Army and served for two years in Europe, before returning to Nampa, Idaho, with his new bride, Joyce Harada, again to become a farmer. He was her provider, companion, dance partner and lover. While building Naito Farms Inc. from the ground up with his brother Hiroshi Naito, Mitts and Joyce welcomed their 5 children into the world: Sidney, Tamiko, Holly, Mark, and Parry. After many years of hard work to provide the best for his family, Mitts passed his farming career onto his son Sidney Naito and retired to enjoy the simple things that he loved most in life: family, fishing, and tending to his beautiful vegetable gardens and collection of flowers. God gave him a famous wit and sense of humor; even the last five months of his life he gave us his laughter and joy. Mitts passed away in the knowledge that his family would always stick together and take care of each other, just as he had always taught them, through his legacy as a father, husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and friend.Mitts is survived by his wife of 51 years, five children, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and his two brothers.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 17, 2015 for the public at Lakeview Bible Church, 1010 W. Greenhurst Rd. in Nampa. A private family burial will be held in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
