Minnie NewellPHILO: Minta Mae "Minnie" Newell, 84, formerly of Philo, passed away on October 25, 2015 at Genesis Hospital, Emergency Room.Minnie was born on July 14, 1931 in Zanesville the daughter of the late Dennis Rowland and Jeannettie Polen. She worked as a baker and cook for Howards Restaurant. She also worked for Ross IGA and Campbell's Market. She was a phenomenal cook; she enjoyed crocheting, traveling, cooking family dinners and going out to eat. Her greatest joy was the time that she was able to spend with her family. She was a faithful member of the Shelter House Assembly of God Church where she served as treasurer for several years. Minnie is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Joseph Newell whom she married September 10, 1949; she was the second mother to Jacqueline Burleigh of South Zanesville, Joe (Susan) Rowland, Mary (Terry) Bonnett and James (Janice) Rowland all of Zanesville; her grandchildren Samantha, David, Shawn, Jonathon and Loralynne; her great-grandchildren Reagan, Archer and Arabella; her brother Edwin (Helen) Rowland of Thornville and Mabel Wisecarver of Avondale and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Minnie is preceded in death by her siblings Lotus Rowland, Jimmy Rowland, Cecil Rowland and Iscle May Rowland.Visitations will be 11 to 1pm on Tuesday at the Farus Funeral Home of Duncan Falls where funeral services will be 1 pm with Joe Rowland officiating.
