SKALIMichael Joseph Michael Joseph Skali, 67, of Kansas City, died suddenly in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd at St. Thomas More Parish, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, February 3rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Unbound, 1 Elmwood Ave, Kansas City, KS 66103 in honor of Mike.Mike was born on December 15, 1949 in Toledo, OH. Michael and his wife Sylvia moved to Kansas City in 1994. Michael was deeply affected by his mother Evelyn's death. He was with her when she died suddenly in 1965. Michael felt the presence of his mother in his daily devotions and spiritual reading and study. He often said he married his wife, Sylvia, because she was so much like his mother who was loving and not to mention a good cook. Mike had an intense passion and love for his children and his grandchildren and always made his family his number one priority. He was an avid sports fan and had an exceptionally keen mind to recall and recite statistics from every sporting event. Mike found peace and rest with his wife and family on his yearly vacations to Destin Beach, Florida. He loved the water and one could always find Mike and his lovely wife beachside enjoying the wonders of the ocean. Mike was often referred to as “Big Mike” due to his tall stature and straight forward manner. However, he was a kind, gentle and loving to all who knew him. Mike will be missed terribly by those whose lives were touched by Big Mike. Mike leaves these final thoughts which he wrote in his Ignatian Spirituality Journal on the morning of his death; “Have no fear, I trust in God.” He is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate of 43 years Sylvia Skali and their two daughters, Lisa Tylinski and Kim Skali; granddaughter, Angeli Skali; grandson, Alexander Bell; sister, Catherine Bal; and many nieces and nephews, as well as family friends, Jacqueline Kenney, Brian Emerson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and William Skali.
