DOOHAN, Michael Earle Michael Doohan was born on April 8, 1930 in Fredericton N.B. Canada and passed away at his home in the Spokane Valley on October 14th at the age of 87. Mike was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Winifred in 2010, his parents T. Earle and Mary, and two sisters, Alice Keegan and Mary Sullivan. He is survived by his four children: Joseph (Mary), Earle, Maura (Lora) and Megan (Garret) Guinn; his ten precious grandchildren, who he loved to share his passions for a strong work ethic and chocolate with: Sean, Alicia, Emily, Ethan, Trevor, Brendan, Amanda, Olivia, Riley and Rhyse; his sister, Sister Mary Earle Doohan SSND; his close friend Barbara Callahan of MA and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike attended Malden Catholic High School in Boston, where he was inducted into their Football Hall of Fame in 1998. He then attended Boston College on a football scholarship, graduating in 1953. After turning down an offer from the Green Bay Packers, he received an MBA from Northeastern University in 1957. Mike was in the Navy Reserves during this time. He worked at Container Corp. of America, W.R. Grace and Co. and Boise Cascade before purchasing Kathleen Louise Mfg Co. in 1968 and moving to "God's Country" for good. Mike earned his pilot's license in 1965, and loved flying and traveling. Mike was very passionate about his faith and service to his community. Mike was a member of the Serra Club, which promotes Catholic vocations, for 54 years. He served as their International President from 1992-1993, and helped bring the Serra International Convention to Spokane in 2006. He was the founding chairman of the Board of Directors for the Catholic Foundation of the Spokane Diocese from 1981-1982. He served for many years on the Board of Directors at SHMC, on the Board of Regents at Gonzaga University and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. A vigil service will be held Friday, October 27th at 7pm, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, where Mike was a parishioner for over 50 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 28th at 10am, at St John Vianney, 501 N. Walnut Rd.
