Melvin "Mel" J. Jones 1931 - 2016COLLINSVILLE, IL - Melvin "Mel" J. Jones, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born on October 11, 1931 in Springfield, Ill., passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Caseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Caseyville, Ill.Mel was a retired computer sales rep. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran; a member of the 3rd Division Army Band while servicing in Korea; a member of VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill; a member of American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, Ill.; a member of the Ainad Shriners Drum & Bugle Corps. He enjoyed spending time with his hunting buddies and going to his high school class reunions and family reunions. He graduated from Springfield Lanphier High School in 1949.He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Belle Jones, nee Stalling, whom he married on November 4, 1951 in Springfield, Ill. and died on May 4, 2012; his parents, Amos and Gladys Marie, nee Cook, Jones.Surviving are his son and daughters, Melvin Richard "Rick" (Jennie) Jones of Frankfort, Ill., Janice Renee Martin of Florissant, Mo. and Carolyn Jane "Janie" (Jim) Wilson of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Koetters of Bloomington, Ill., David (Jessica) Jones of Lombard, Ill., Rachel Jones of Frankfort, Ill., Jimmy (Lindsey) Wilson, Jeff Wilson of Collinsville, Ill., Amanda Martin of St. Charles, Mo., Adrianne Martin and Felix Martin of Florissant, Mo.; great grandchildren, Nadia Scarver, Paul, Noah, Luke and Henry Koetters; two brothers, Ernest (Shirley) Jones of Springfield, Ill. and Derrell (Marian) Jones of Washington, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to VFW Post 5691, Collinsville, Ill. or to a military .
