Matilda A. “Tilly” KuzmitsMarch 11, 1926 - Dec. 05, 2016MISHAWAKA - Matilda A. “Tilly” Kuzmits, 90, passed away peacefully Monday, December 5, 2016 in her residence.Matilda was born on March 11, 1926 in South Bend to Jacob and Marie (Ferency) Kuzmits. She was the owner of Kuzmits Grocery and also had been employed by Clay's Candy, Kroger and Amerisource Pharmaceutical. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Kuzmits and brother Frank Kuzmits.Surviving are a sister Lillian Jeziorski of South Bend and a brother Rudy Kuzmits of Mishawaka as well as her nieces, nephews, Gary Kuzmits of Florida, Alan Kuzmits of South Bend, Tony Kuzmits, Greg Kuzmits both of Indianapolis, Jeff Kuzmits of Florida,David Jeziorski of Texas, John Jeziorski of California, Patti Schmatz of South Bend and Michele Maternowski of Mishawaka with many great-nieces and nephews. Tilly spent most of her life at Kuzmits Grocery on Calvert St. serving the community and diverse European neighborhood families. She loved to talk with customers and friends while working many hours. She attended Our Lady of Hungary School and graduated from Riley High School. Tilly had many friends from childhood and school that she kept up with throughout her lifetime. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, December 10, 2016 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Family and friends may gather from 9:00am until services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice in South Bend.
