Distler, Mary Rose Owens,81, passed away on August 10, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Mary Rose was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend; and caregiver to all of the patients she touched over her years as a nurse. We look forward to reuniting with her one day as she now enjoys her heavenly reward. Mary Rose was born on June 27, 1936, in Frankfort, Kentucky, and was a lifelong resident of Louisville. She is a graduate of Ursuline High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing. She was a retired geriatric nurse at Christopher East Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Myer Owens, Sr., and Mary Louise Edes Owens. She is survived by her husband, Charles O. Distler; children, Rose Drennen (Dean), Karen Rose (David), Kevin Distler (Linda), Lisa Stampor (Michael), sibling Edwards Owens, Jr., Charles "Chuck" Owens (Silvia), Bonnie Owens and Linda Diebold (Donald); grandchildren Ashley Distler, Kirstin Distler Osborne, Lauren Distler Rhea; Jeffrey Rose; Jennifer Stampor, and Kaitlin Stampor. A private family memorial service will take place on Sunday, August 13. Given her background as a nurse, she has chosen to donate her body to the University of Louisville Medical School with the hope that her gift will further research on finding a cure for Alzheimer's, a disease that also took the life of her mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in the name of Mary Distler to Hospice of Louisville at
