Mary N. Korogianos was born on June 16, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Nicholas and Helen Hatzinikolis. She passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a brief illness at the age of 85.Mary was an active member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain. She was very caring and had a true concern for others. Mary was instrumental in helping others in their transition from Greece to the United States, especially with the language barrier. She enjoyed music, traveling, cooking and sharing all her recipes. She was gifted with a great sense of humor and had the ability to connect with people of all ages. Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her son, Peter (Janelle) Korogianos, of Southern California; daughter, Andrea Korogianos, of Lorain; granddaughters, Mary and Eleni Korogianos, both of Southern California; sister, Theodossia Hatzinikolis; and her brother, Ken Hatzinikolis. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Korogianos, in 2003; parents, Nicholas and Helen Hatzinikolis; and her siblings, Stavros, Steve, Georgia, Bessie and Dorothy. The Korogianos family will receive friends on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Trisagion Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31st. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd. Lorain, Ohio. Reverend Father James Doukas, of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, in Rocky River, will officiate.
