It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Helen Lemons, age 58. Family and friends fondly knew her as Helen, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on July 17, 1958 in Silver City, New Mexico to Alfred Lemons and Lydia Villalobos. Helen was a very generous woman with a tremendous amount of love for her family and friends. Helen had such an audacious personality, so much, that her presence lit up every room she walked into. She enjoyed being with her family and embraced everyone she met with a non-judgmental open heart. Her faith in Jesus Christ never wavered and always believed in living life to the fullest. Even in her darkest times, she always had a smile on her face and loved to laugh. Her brother, Gilbert Villalobos and father, Alfred Lemons, preceded Helen in death. She leaves behind two children, Nick S. Rivera and wife Leticia Rivera, Yvonne Lemons both from Las Cruces. Helen also had eight grandchildren, Nicolas Rivera, Tobias Murphy, Giselle Murphy, Jordan Rivera, Jade Rivera, Elissa Montoya, Kaila Montoya, and Mia Montoya. Other survivors include her mother, Lydia Villalobos, sisters Gloria Villalobos Apodaca and husband Mike Apodaca, Christina Torres and one brother Michael Villalobos all of Las Cruces and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Lastly, she leaves behind her one and only true best friend, Shanay, her Lhasa Apso.A visitation is to be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 9:30am – 10:30am, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary to begin at 10:30am at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 East Bowman Ave. Burial services will be held at a later date.
