Mary Lee Scott was born Mary Lee Anderson in Jackson, Mississippi on May 26, 1930 to William and Mary Anderson. She received her general education in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 1944 Mary moved to Kansas City along with her mother and sisters where she received her nursing degree. She worked at the old Saint Margaret hospital which is now known as Providence Medical Center, until her retirement. Years later she received her cosmetologists certificate. Mary could never stay still for long following that she established an operated her own licensed daycare.

In the early 50s, she was united in marriage to Isaac Scott's Sr. To this Union 3 children were born. Later in life after this marriage was dissolved she met and married Clinton Goss.

Mary was affectionately known as Mother Mary and Aunt Honey to those that loved her. She loved to garden, help people, and spend time with family. Her greatest joys in life were cooking, giving to others, and most of all Mary love to serve as a Jehovah's witness.

Mary was preceded in death by: both of her parents; two brothers, Ollie P. Anderson and David Anderson, five sisters, Gladys Donnell, Virginia McCallop, Willie Ruth Mills, Lucille Hall and Earlene Whorley; and her granddaughter, Donna Bowren.

She leaves to cherish her memories her grandchildren Ronnell Bowren, Allen Scott, Schemia Samules, and Leon Tyson Jr. and Olivia Johnson her grandchildren whom she raised as her own. She also leaves a host of great grandchildren, great -great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
