Mary L. (Roney) Perry, 80, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 4, 1936, in Erie, a daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Simeon) Roney. Mary was Salutatorian of the 1954 graduating class of Fairview High School. Following high school, she worked for a time at Erie Resistor. Throughout her life, her family was always her priority and she was a mother to everyone she knew. She was extremely proud of and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren immensely. She was a longtime member of the Lake City United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Nancy Roney; an infant brother, Paul Roney; also a brother, Robert Roney; and granddaughters, Jennifer Perry and Destiny Angel Murphy. She will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Richard E. "Red" Perry, whom she married January 28, 1956 in Girard; also by two daughters, Nancy L. Murphy (Craig) of Lake City and Janice Creaton of Franklin Center; a son, Rick Perry of Girard; sisters, Roseann Renshaw, Jenny Gresh (Jim), Joanie Baldwin, and Betty List (John); brothers, Mitchell, Chuck and Jerry Roney; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Murphy, Mylissa Hiller, Bethany Slagle, Matthew Creaton, Ashley Creaton, Lindsey Splitstone, and Michael Perry; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Mary's Funeral Service on Saturday at the Lake City United Methodist Church, 10887 Sampson Ave., Lake City, at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
