Mary Elizabeth EndresMarine City/East ChinaMary Elizabeth Endres, age 88, of Marine City/East China, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2016. Mary was born on June 27, 1928 in Detroit. She married Leo Joseph Endres on April 27, 1957. He preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Augustus and Julia Singelyn; brothers, Bill, Edward (Betty) and James.She is survived by her children, John (Sherry) of Arkansas, James (Claudia) of Troy, Joseph (Vonnie) of Marine City, Mary (David) Egge of Fair Haven, Michael (Beth) of East Lansing, Robert (Margarite) of Eau Clair, Wisconsin, Julie (Mark Rock) of Clay Twp., Bill (Sally) of Brighton; 24 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, sister, Sister Harriett Singelyn (Sister Hilda) of Monroe; brother, Fr. Robert Singelyn of Brazil; sister in law, Patricia of Ohio and many nieces and nephews.Mary graduated from Nazareth College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She worked at River District Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 30 years. Mary was a member of Holy Cross Church where she gave her time in many capacities including teaching religious education, running blood drives, organizing the Christmas giving tree to local women's and children's centers and visiting the Macomb Correctional Facility to administer communion and scripture. In 2002, she was awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. by the Detroit Catholic Diocese. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as with the Oatmeal Club, the Happy Hookers crafting group and the St. Clair Theatre group.Mass of Resurrection will be Friday December 23rd at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Our Lady on the River Parish, Marine City. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday 3 to 9 p.m. at Young Funeral Home, China Twp. Additional visitation will be Friday at church 10 to 11 a.m. prior to mass. A rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m.Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Church, OLR Parish.
