Mary Elizabeth (née Wright) MeissnerAGE: 77 • Wilmington,Mary Elizabeth (née Wright) Meissner, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Forwood Manor in Wilmington, DE.Mary was born on March 17, 1940 to John and Mary Wright in Camden, New Jersey. She graduated from Lower Merion HS in Ardmore, PA., and then graduated from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., and New York Hospital with a BSN in nursing. Mary lived in New York City for more than 20 years, where she was a Charge Nurse at the Payne Whitney Clinic of New York Hospital. She then moved to Brandon, FL, where she lived for 19 years, and worked as a case manager for AETNA. In 2007, she moved to Wilmington to be closer to her family.On May 31, 1969, Mary married William Francis Meissner. They remained married for 23 years, and enjoyed traveling the world, gourmet cooking and exploring every nook and cranny of New York City.Mary was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.Mary is survived by her sister, Abigail Greene; her brother-in-law, Donald Greene; two nieces, Mary E. Greene(Chip Miller), Kathryn C. Greene (Jim Suhre); one nephew, John W. Greene (Susan); and two grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and former husband.A memorial service for Mary will be held later this fall; a private burial service will be held in Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken, N.J.Mary's family is grateful for the caring staff in the assisted living section of Forwood Manor and at Compassionate Care Hospice of Wilmington.
