Mary Beth McCainServices for Mary Beth Person McCain will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 10 a.m., in the Sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug de Graffenreid officiating. The Rev. Louis Sklar will assist. Interment with graveside services will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 7, from 5-8 in the chapel of Blanchard-St. Denis.She died June 3, 2017, in Galveston, TX, following a brief illness.Mary Beth, affectionately known to many as "Nom," was born on June 25, 1934, in Castor, LA. She earned the bachelor of science degree in education from Centenary College in 1955 while a member of Chi Omega sorority before marrying the love of her life, Jack Parnell McCain Jr. Together, they raised three sons, Jack Parnell III, John Shelby, and Jason Mayfield McCain. Mary Beth faced the untimely losses of John and Jason with courage, spirit and an unyielding love for God and her family knowing she would once again be reunited with them. The accomplishments of her grandchildren, Shelby Lynn, Tyler Mayfield, and Mallory Beth and her husband, Jason Edens, were always the focus of her pride. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chapter AU of PEO, Chapter Xi Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and the Service League of Natchitoches.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lory Mayfield and Veo Stovall Person; her brother, Joseph Shelby Person; and her two sons.She leaves behind her husband of 58 years; her son and his wife, Janet Lechman McCain; her grandchildren, and several cousins.Pallbearers will be Tyler McCain, Jason Edens, Pat Todd Jr., John Lechman, Aaron Odom, and Sam (Trey) Hill III. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Laing, Cholla Ardoin, Dale Kotzur, and William (Buzz) Boyd.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Mary Beth's memory to the John and Jason McCain Memorial Scholarship, Northwestern State University Foundation, 535 University Parkway, Natchitoches, LA 71497.
