Our beloved sister and aunt, Mary Ann Ramirez, began her journey home on Sunday, November 9, 2014. She was born on the West Cocopah Reservation on August 26, 1937 to Joe and Ora Sandiego. She was the youngest of 7 siblings. Mary Ann spent her early years in the Blythe, California area. Upon returning to the West Cocopah Reservation, she became involved in its Tribal Government and served as a Council Member. She was employed as a Community Health Representative for the tribe. Mary Ann was a talented artist and was well known for her beautiful bead work. She loved to cook and bake, an avid reader of Danielle Steele but her passion was the slots and playing bingo at Cocopah Casino. Mary Ann was a strong and proud lady. We will carry her in our hearts always.Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Emma Hayes of Somerton, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ora Sandiego; daughter, Cyndi Barley; brothers, Robert Sandiego, Brown Sandiego, Louie Sandiego, and Delano Sandiego; and sister, Edith Miller.Traditional Ceremonies will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at West Cocopah Cryhouse.
