Marvel Ann Shannon Hall died on March 7, 2017 at her home in Sun Lakes, Arizona surrounded by her family and loved ones. Marvel was born on June 4, 1931 in Monroe, Iowa to Floyd and Ora Belle Shannon. Marvel graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1949 and then attended Broadlawns Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. diploma. She later attended Drake University and was the first graduate to receive a Bachelor of Independent Studies from the College of Liberal Arts. Marvel worked as a registered nurse and taught nursing from 1953 until her retirement in the early 1980's. In 1975, after having five children, Marvel enrolled at the University of Iowa College of Nursing where she earned a Master of Arts in Nursing. Marvel was active in the Iowa Nurses Association during her career and she also served on the Altoona City Council for eight years. Marvel was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert D. Hall. She is survived by their children Tiffin Hall (wife Sandi) of Eureka, Montana, Daniel Hall (wife Zoe) of Missoula, Montana, Robert Justin Hall, M.D. ("R.J" and his wife Sue) of Anchorage, Alaska, Rebecca Hall (husband Lee) of Chandler, Arizona and Jennifer Bjork (husband Jim) of Duluth, Minnesota. She is also survived by her grandchildren Korey Hall, Lucas Hall, Meagan Wagner, Cassie Wagner, Samantha Brinda (husband Mike), Katie Schwartz, Benjamin Schwartz, Jacob Schwartz, June Bjork, James Bjork, Jessa Bjork, John Fayle, Dain Schuhmacher (wife Libby) and Savahna Schuhmacher (husband Tom) and four great grandchildren, Mason Brinda, McKinley Meester, Cael Meester and Amarie Schuhmacher. She is also survived by Bob's brother Glen Casey, his wife Nancy and their entire family who Marvel and Bob were blessed to finally meet 4 years ago.No service is planned but a celebration of Marvel's and Bob's lives will be held on July 17-19, 2017 at Holland Lake, Montana. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the "Broadlawns Fulfilled my Dreams" scholarship program for nurses at 1801 Hickman Road, Des Moines, IA 50314.
