Mr. Groet, 74, of Matthews, NC, passed away on October 23, 2016 at home. Marty was born on May 24, 1942 in Queens County, New York, son to the late Martin John Groet, Sr. and Winifred Laird Groet. Marty retired from IBM as a Software Engineer and lived most of his life in North Carolina. He was a member of American Kiting Association, Co-Founder of Wings Across Carolina Kiting & Okra Society (W.A.C.K.O.S). He also was a volunteer at the Charlotte Museum of History for over 10 years and at the Matthews Heritage Museum for 3 1/2 years.Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend whom he married on July 19, 1980 Dorothy Mazina of Matthews; sisters Susan Braunscheidel (Joseph) of East Amherst, NY, Beth Endres of Oveido, FL; nieces and nephew Lori Lorenz (Kevin) of Williamsville, NY, James Braunscheidel (Erika) of Wheatfield, NY, Kelly Endres (Ifrain Lima) of Orlando, FL, Elaine Smaczniak (Chris) of Orchard Park, NY; and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the , 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100, Charlotte, NC 28207, the Matthews Heritage Museum, 232 N.
